Looks like we have some good stuff coming down the pipe here in AZ…
Most interesting is some legislation that would allow any law abiding citizen of the state to carry concealed with out a permit. That would be great.
Another bill that seems to be in the works is following the lead of some other states – a bill that would make firearms manufactured in AZ, and kept inside the state exempt from federal regulation. Another great thing!
Our Governor has already signed some legislation recently allowing CCW holders to visit establishments that serve liquor, while carrying; as long as they don’t drink alcohol. Additionally, laws are now on the books that require business owners allow employees to keep their weapon in their locked car in the parking lot. When it comes to 2A stuff, so far; Gov. Jan Brewer has been good to us.
Lets hope this stuff can get done!

Here is some information on the bills themselves.
HB 2307 exempts certain Arizona manufactured firearms, firearms accessories and ammunition from federal interstate commerce laws and regulations.
Exempts from federal law or federal regulation, including registration, any firearm, firearm accessory or ammunition that:
Ø Is commercially or privately manufactured in Arizona from basic materials, and that can be manufactured without importing significant parts from out-of-state; and
Ø Remains within the state of Arizona.
- Exempts from federal regulation, any imported firearms accessory, generic or insignificant part or basic materials, that are incorporated into, attached to, or used in conjunction with a firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition manufactured in Arizona.
- Excludes from exemption, ammunition with a projectile that explodes using an explosion of chemical energy after the projectile leaves the firearm, and any firearm that:
Ø Cannot be carried and used by one person;
Ø Has a bore diameter of more than one and one-half inches and that uses smokeless powder as a propellent; and
Ø Discharges two or more projectiles with one activation of the trigger or firing device.

Highlights:
Concealed Carry Weapons
1. Removes the requirement that a person carrying a concealed weapon on their person also carry a CCW permit and that the person present the permit to a law enforcement officer on request.
2. Prohibits the suspension of a CCW permit by DPS for a failure to carry the permit while in possession of a concealed weapon.
3. Exempts, from a petty offense, a permittee who carries a concealed weapon and fails to present it on the request of a law enforcement officer.
4. Requires CCW permits to contain the permittee’s full legal name, ethnicity, sex, height, weight, hair color and eye color, the permit issuance date and the permit expiration date.
5. Removes the requirement that a CCW permit applicant have completed a firearms safety training authorized by DPS and that the applicant submit a certificate of completion form with their permit application.
6. Removes statutory provisions relating to the requirements for the authorization of firearms safety training organizations and their instructors by DPS.
7. Removes the requirement that a person be an Arizona resident in order for a firearm or handgun permit issued by another state to be recognized.
